How do we truly meet one another without losing ourselves into the connection? How do we stay in connection—fluid, open, alive—without tipping into collapse or withdrawal, without grasping for more than can be given?
This one-day workshop offers a gentle, spacious exploration of how we relate to others through movement—by deepening our connection to self, to place, and to the shared field of presence that holds us all. We begin not with interaction but with attunement: to gravity, to sensation, to the weight of our feet on the earth, to the felt shape of our needs. From there, we explore how contact arises—sometimes directly, sometimes obliquely—as part of an ongoing, already-happening web of movement and relation.
We will work indoors, alone and with others, tuning in to how our patterns of reaching out or pulling away are shaped by more than personal history—they are entangled with context, environment, and relationship dynamics. This is not a workshop about performing connection. It is a space to notice, to stay with, to shift. We invite movement that honours difference, consent and needs, that opens the possibility of new pathways, that embraces stillness and solitude as part of the dance.
Together we will ask:
- What does it mean to listen and be heard through movement?
- How can we connect without demanding contact or without expecting to be fetched?
- What new ways of understanding both ourselves and our connections with others can movement reveal?
What to expect
This workshop offers a gentle and enquiring space to explore how we relate through movement — not through choreography or steps, but through presence, listening, and attunement.
We will work both alone and alongside others in an indoor space, engaging with guided movement scores, sensory exploration, and time for reflection. There will be opportunities for shared movement, but no expectation to perform, mirror, or interact beyond what feels right for you. Movement will unfold at your own pace — small, slow, inward, or expansive — always in conversation with your needs and limits.
We begin with the body as it is, and gradually open our awareness to the surrounding environment. From here, we notice how movement arises in relation to others, how contact is offered or withheld, how space is made or taken, and how needs are expressed or silenced — in ourselves and in relation.
At times simple movement scores will be offered as doorways. These are not instructions to follow, but provocations to brew awareness, to stir the body’s knowing, to open subtle pathways of contact and inquiry.
The day may include:
- individual and shared movement practices
- time for rest, observation, and integration
- tuning into subtle cues of comfort, curiosity, and boundary
- invitations to explore connection that respect the needs of both parties
- reflection on how the spaces we move in — and the roles we’ve learned to inhabit shape how we show up in connection
Potential benefits
This workshop does not promise transformation, but it offers conditions for change. By attending, you may:
- develop a deeper felt sense of your own relational patterns: how you move towards, away, or freeze in contact
- gain tools for staying present in moments of uncertainty, discomfort, or ambiguity
- cultivate your capacity to listen — not just to others, but to the subtle messages of your own body and of the space around you
- reconnect with the intelligence of stillness, of pausing, of not-knowing
- explore connection that honours difference, without pressure to merge or perform
- root your movement in a wider web of relations, including land, place, and more-than-human presences
This is a space to practise being with — with self, with other, with moment — not to strive for an ideal of connection, but to notice what is already present and what wants to move.
Who is this for?
This workshop welcomes individuals seeking to explore the nuances of human connection through mindful movement practice. It invites those who feel drawn to explore the delicate territory between autonomy and connection, who sense there might be wisdom in how we physically move in relation to others.
If you’ve ever wondered about your patterns of engagement or wondered how to stay true to yourself while in genuine connection with others, this space is for you.
No movement experience necessary—just bring your willingness to listen to your body and engage with presence. All bodies and abilities welcome. a
