A collaboration between astrologer Amanda Simon and movement artist Claire Loussouarn.

  • Astrology was never meant to be trapped in books or apps. Long before it became a system of interpretation, it was a practice of listening — to wind and weather, to bone and breath, to sky-beings who moved not as abstractions but as relatives.

Primal Astrology returns us to this older lineage: a grounded, sensate, decolonial way of meeting the cosmos through the body rather than the intellect alone. Across nine months, we explore how each planet is a pattern of consciousness, a mode of being shaping our lived experience. Their qualities run through our nerves, breath, instincts, and desires.

When we get to know a planet, we get to know a facet of ourselves. We begin to feel how intricate and multiple we are, recognising how we are cosmological in our incarnation — composed of many rhythms, intelligences, and archetypal strands.

Birth chart and collective astrology

Throughout the series, we will actively weave each participant’s natal chart into the practice while also attending to the collective astrology of the group, noticing patterns, resonances, tensions, and openings. The series becomes a living dialogue between personal sky and communal cosmic field, allowing astrology to unfold as intimate, relational, emergent, and collective.

What to expect

    • Movement practices: exploring how planetary energies flow through the body
    • Somatic listening: noticing subtle sensations, rhythms, and impulses
    • Imaginative play and creative reflection: poetry, drawing, ritual, and guided exercises
    • Astrological integration: working with your chart while attending to collective patterns

Participants are encouraged to develop an active practice outside sessions, especially with the Sun and Moon, noticing how their movements, light, and phases shape personal energy, emotion, and environment — from plant growth to tides and natural cycles.

Series structure

We follow three three-month cycles, each exploring a planetary triad:

Cycle 1:  Sun → Moon → their relationship

February — movement with the Sun

The Sun is a living pattern of consciousness, a furnace of aliveness animating both inner life and interactions with the world. Through movement, elemental play, and imaginative attunement, we explore how solar energy expresses in vitality, courage, and presence.

March — movement with the Moon

The Moon draws us into tides of reflection, memory, and cyclical flow. It moves through our bodies and resonates in the environment. Through somatic, imaginative, and sensory practices, we explore lunar qualities in ourselves and the world around us.

April — solar–lunar relationship

The Sun and Moon interweave, shaping patterns of being and relationships with the world. Through movement, discussion, and chart-based exploration, we cultivate awareness of how internal rhythms resonate with the wider natural and social world.

Cycle 2:  Jupiter → Saturn → their relationship

May — Jupiter: expansion, trust, imagination

June — Saturn: boundaries, responsibility, discipline

July — Jupiter and Saturn dialogue: growth without exploitation, structure without oppression

Cycle 3:  Neptune → Venus → their relationship

September — Neptune: dissolution, dream, interconnection

October — Venus: attraction, pleasure, relational intelligence, sensuality

November — synthesis: imagining, desiring, and creating in a damaged world, opening hearts personally and collectively

Each session cultivates direct cosmological listening, sensing planetary presences already woven through life, relationships, and environment. The planets are not distant; they are present, active, and intimate.

A language grown through the body

Primal Astrology is a living practice. Each session cultivates:

    • Somatic vocabulary: movement, sensation, visceral tracking, imaginative extension
    • Elemental atmosphere: textures, metals, fabrics, flame, plants, sound
    • Non-verbal exploration: entering with beginner’s mind, bypassing stereotypes and clichés
    • Creative reflection: writing, drawing, poetic response, paired witnessing
    • Astrological grounding: engaging directly with your chart through bodily understanding

You will not be taught about planets; you will be supported to encounter them.

Why this work now

Astrology must recover its feral intelligence. This series offers a slower, radical, intuitive, and relational approach, resisting hierarchical, colonial habits in modern astrology.

Planets are patterns of consciousness, living forces shaping body, desires, instincts, and relational world. Cultivating cosmological listening allows us to reclaim a felt sense of being woven from star matter and ancestral earth, recognising the carnal, relational, and ecological within.

Who is it for?

Anyone curious about astrology, movement, and ecological connection; those who want to move beyond cerebral interpretation into direct, lived experience. No prior astrology or movement experience is required — only a willingness to listen, move, and feel.
