How do we truly meet one another without losing ourselves in the connection, or avoiding it altogether? How do we stay fluid, open, alive — without tipping into collapse or withdrawal, without grasping for more than can be given? How can we remain attuned to the wider field — the ground, the air, the objects and more-than-human lives that shape every encounter — as we relate to one another?
This one-day workshop offers a gentle, spacious exploration of how we relate to others through movement — by deepening our connection to self, to place, and to the shared field of presence that holds us all. We begin not with interaction but with attunement: to ourselves, to the environment around us, and to the ways it reflects back our condition. From here, we bring to awareness how relationship is never absent but always unfolding — in the way a wall holds our leaning, a chair meets our weight, another body offers presence, the air itself carries touch — each moment part of a wider fabric of relation.
As we explore these relational patterns, we also widen our attention: relational movement is not only about human-to-human connection, but about recognising that every encounter unfolds within a living ecology. What if our interactions were not self-contained, but part of an ever-moving web of relation with place, atmosphere, objects, and more-than-human others? This gathering invites a deeper listening to one another, and to the wider field through which all connection breathes.
This is not a workshop about performing connection. It is a space to notice, to stay with, to shift. We invite movement that honours difference, consent and needs, that welcomes stillness, solitude, playfulness, contact — oblique or direct — as part of the dance.
Together we will ask:
- What does it mean to listen to others and be heard by others through movement?
- How can we connect without demanding contact, without expecting to be fetched, without ignoring the quiet threads that bind us already?
- What new ways of understanding both ourselves and our connections with others — human and more-than-human — can movement reveal?
What to expect
This workshop offers a gentle and enquiring space to explore how we relate through movement — not through choreography or steps, but through presence, listening, and attunement.

We will work both alone and alongside others in an indoor space, engaging with free movement, guided movement scores, sensory exploration, and time for reflection. There will be opportunities for shared movement, but no expectation to perform, mirror, or interact beyond what feels right for you. Movement will unfold at your own pace — sometimes quiet and inward, sometimes large and expansive — always in conversation with your needs, and with the wider context you are part of.
We begin with the body as it is, then gradually open our awareness to the surrounding environment. From here, we notice how movement arises in relation to objects, to others, and to the spaces in between: how contact is offered or withheld, how space is made or taken, how needs are expressed or silenced.
At times simple movement scores will be offered as doorways. These are not instructions to follow, but provocations to brew awareness, to stir the body’s knowing, to open subtle pathways of contact and inquiry.
The day may include:
- individual and shared movement practices
- time for rest, observation, and integration
- tuning into subtle cues of comfort, curiosity, and boundary
- invitations to explore connection that respect the needs of both parties
- reflection on how the spaces we move in — and the roles we’ve learned to inhabit shape — how we show up in connection
Potential benefits
This workshop does not promise transformation, but it offers conditions for making a different choice or for more consciously choosing what we already do. By attending, you may:
- develop a deeper felt sense of your own relational patterns: how you move towards, away, or pause in contact
- attune to relationship as something deeply ecological, happening through space — not only between humans but in relation with place, objects, and atmosphere
- gain tools for staying present in moments of uncertainty, discomfort, or ambiguity
- cultivate your capacity to listen — not just to others, but to the subtle messages of your own body and of the environment around you
- feel more connected to others while staying grounded in yourself, without losing something vital in the process
- honour your own impulses and limits within movement and contact, without making judgment or seeking a “right” way, and while nurturing a quality of dialogue with the presence of others and the wider environment
- root your movement in a wider web of relations, including land, place, and more-than-human presences
This is a space to practise being with — with self, with other, with moment — not to strive for an ideal of connection, but to notice what is already present and what wants to move.
Who is this for?
This workshop welcomes individuals seeking to explore the nuances of human connection through mindful movement practice. It invites those who feel drawn to explore the delicate territory between autonomy and connection, who sense there might be wisdom in how we physically move in relation to others.
If you’ve ever wondered about your patterns of engagement or wondered how to stay true to yourself while in genuine connection with others, this space is for you.
No movement experience necessary—just bring your willingness to listen to your body and engage with presence. All bodies and abilities welcome.
